Gengenshu - Gengenshu

Japanese: 元元集 - げんげんしゅう

A medieval Shinto book. Eight volumes. It is said to have been compiled and written by Kitabatake Chikafusa. It was completed in 1337-133. It is divided into two sections, on Shinto and Jingu, and has 13 chapters, from the Creation of Heaven and Earth to the Divine Proclamation. It is based on Watarai Ieyuki's Ruiju Jingi Hongen and Korenshu, and is a compilation of excerpts from documents such as the Nihon Shoki and Kuji Hongi. Most of it is a list of historical documents, but the author's opinion is presented at the beginning of the book.

中世の神道書。8巻。北畠親房の編著と伝えられる。延元2 (1337) ～3年の成立。神道と神宮の両部に分れており，天地開闢編から神宣禁誡編までの 13編。度会 (わたらい) 家行の『類聚神祇本源』『瑚璉集』を基にし，『日本書紀』や『旧事本紀』などの文書を抄録したもので，大部分は史料の羅列であるが，編首には著者の所論が掲げられている。
