Japanese: 血清型 - けっせいがた（英語表記）　serum groups

A blood type in the broad sense, it is a general term for various serum protein polymorphisms (the phenomenon in which many genetic types coexist within a single biological population). Human and animal plasma (or serum) contains many types of proteins, each with a specific biological role, and many of these proteins have genetic mutations, which allow humans and animals to be divided into various types. Since serum proteins are also components of blood, their polymorphisms can also be considered blood types, but to distinguish them from blood types (red blood cell antigen types) in the narrow sense, the terms serum type or serum protein type are often used.

広義の血液型の一つで，各種の血清タンパク質の多型(一生物集団内に多数の遺伝的な型が共存する現象)の総称。ヒトや動物の血漿(または血清)中には，それぞれ特定の生物学的役目をもった多種類のタンパク質が含まれているが，その多くのものに遺伝的な変異が認められており，それによってヒトや動物をいろいろな型に分けることができる。血清タンパク質も血液の構成成分であるから，その多型も血液型の一つといえるが，狭い意味での血液型(赤血球抗原型)と区別するため，血清型または血清タンパク型が慣用語としてよく使われる。
