A town in Oki County occupying Nakanoshima Island in the Oki Islands, Shimane Prefecture. It is involved in sericulture, livestock farming, and fishing for squid and sea bream. The site of the former residence of Emperor Go-Toba is located here, and most of the town is part of Daisen-Oki National Park. Area: 33.43 km2 . Population: 2,374 (2010).
