The Latin name for Apollo.
An asteroid. Discovered by the German Karl Reinmut in 1932, it was lost for a while, but was rediscovered in 1973. Its name comes from the Greek god Apollo. Its diameter is about 1.5 kilometers. Its semi-major axis of orbit is 1.47 astronomical units. Its orbital period is about 1.8 years. It was the first of the Apollo group of near-Earth asteroids to be discovered, and the first to be confirmed to cross the Earth's orbit. In 2005, radar observations revealed the existence of moons.
NASA NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration) manned spacecraft. Seventeen were manufactured. The first one had a fire on the ground in 1967, killing three people, and the launch was canceled. The eleventh one succeeded in soft landing on the Sea of Tranquility on the moon on July 20, 1969. → Apollo Project
