The Latin name for Apollo. An asteroid. Discovered by the German Karl Reinmut in 1932, it was lost for a while, but was rediscovered in 1973. Its name comes from the Greek god Apollo. Its diameter is about 1.5 kilometers. Its semi-major axis of orbit is 1.47 astronomical units. Its orbital period is about 1.8 years. It was the first of the Apollo group of near-Earth asteroids to be discovered, and the first to be confirmed to cross the Earth's orbit. In 2005, radar observations revealed the existence of moons.
