A fossil gymnosperm that flourished from the Permian to Triassic periods. It has large, tongue-shaped, simple leaves with reticulate veins. Its distribution was limited to the Southern Hemisphere, including Africa, South America, and Australia. Other plants in the Southern Hemisphere at that time included Gangamopteris and Schizoneura, and because they are very different from the Angara flora of the Northern Hemisphere, they are grouped together as the Gondwana flora. → Related topics Gondwana | Pangaea Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
