Black ape - Kurozaru (English spelling)

It is a member of the Cercopithecidae family of the Primates order of the Mammalia, and is sometimes separated from the Macaca genus and classified as the Cynopithecus genus. It is found only on the island of Sulawesi (Celebes) and its surrounding islands. Males reach a body length of 60 cm and a weight of 10 kg, but females are smaller. Its tail is vestigial and measures 1 to 2 cm. Its entire body is covered with black or dark brown hair, and the hair on the top of its head is long and stands upright in a tuft. Its hairless face is also black, and both sexes have raised bones above the eyes and on both sides of the nose, giving it a baboon-like appearance. It is said to live in small groups in tropical rainforests, feeding on fruit and other foods.
