This hot spring is a national health resort located in Minamioguni-machi, Aso-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture, on the western foot of Mount Kuju. It is a sulfur spring containing salt. Temperatures range from 47 to 96 degrees Celsius. It was originally a secluded hot spring suitable for medical treatment, but it developed after the Kyushu Cross-Island Highway was opened. 熊本県阿蘇郡南小国町，九重山西麓にある国民保養温泉。含食塩硫黄泉。47〜96℃。療養向きのひなびた温泉であったが，九州横断道路開通後発展。豊肥本線豊後竹田町からバスが通じる。
