Clairo
French mathematician. Member of the Académie des Sciences in 1731. Researched differential equations, geodesics, isoperimetric problems, etc. In 1736, he surveyed Lapland following Maupertuis, and as a result wrote Discourse on the Form of the Earth (1743). He also studied the movements of the moon and the stars.
