Kurisawa [town] - Kurisawa
A former town in Sorachi District, Hokkaido. It is served by the Muroran Main Line and National Route 234. The western part is a rice paddy area sandwiched between the Horomui River, a tributary of the Ishikari River, and the Yubari River, while the eastern part is mountainous and was home to the Manji and Miruto coal mines. The town produces rice, vegetables, and fruit. With the decline of the coal industry, the town is currently attracting factories. In March 2006, it was incorporated into Kitamura Village, Sorachi District, and Iwamizawa City. 179.87 km2 . 7,221 people (2003).

北海道空知郡の旧町。室蘭本線,国道234号線が通じる。西部は石狩川の支流幌向(ほろむい)川と夕張川にはさまれた水田地帯,東部は山地で,万字,美流渡(みると)の炭鉱があった。米,野菜,果樹を産する。石炭産業の衰退で工場誘致が行われている。2006年3月空知郡北村と岩見沢市へ編入。179.87km2。7221人(2003)。
