〘Noun〙 A copy of an oral proclamation①. Originally it was a copy written by the shikiji (= head of the chamberlain), but later it came to be handed over to the senior lords, becoming an independent and effective document. The format is that the date and addressee are written at the beginning in the main text, and at the end the chamberlain's rank and given name are written in that order, with the character "hou" added under the name.
