Kuzakai Pass - Kuzakai Pass

Japanese: 区界峠 - くざかいとうげ

A 751m high pass in central Iwate Prefecture, located on the border between the eastern edge of Morioka City and Miyako City. It forms the watershed between the Hei River and the Yanagawa River. It is located at the southern foot of Mt. Kabuto Myojin along the Miyako Kaido (National Route 106) that connects Morioka City and Miyako City. The Kukai Plateau around the pass is covered with a birch forest and can be enjoyed throughout the year, with lily of the valley and wild vegetable picking in spring, hiking in summer, autumn leaves and mushroom hunting in autumn, and skiing in winter.
