Quirinus (English spelling)

An ancient Roman god. It is said that Romulus, who founded Rome and became its first king, ascended to heaven while still alive to become the god he became. In ancient times, he was one of the three main Roman deities along with Jupiter and Mars, and while Jupiter was in charge of kingship and religion and Mars was in charge of war, it is thought that he primarily played the role of protecting the common people and their livelihood, agriculture.

古代ローマの神。ローマを創建し初代の王となったロムルスが，生きながら昇天してなった神といわれる。古く，ユピテルおよびマルスとともにローマの三大主神格のグループを構成し，ユピテルが王権と宗教を司り，マルスが戦いを司るのに対し，もっぱら庶民とその生業である農業を保護する機能を果したと思われる。
