Right to rest

[Right to rest]
Rest is essentially leisure time that workers can use freely for relieving fatigue (reproduction of labor force) after being freed from the constraints of contract labor, which is their only means of livelihood, and for entertainment, education, the development of abilities, and other social activities. The Japanese Constitution guarantees "a healthy and cultured minimum standard of living" (Article 25), and from this perspective, the right to rest for workers has been added to the list of fundamental human rights (Article 27). Weekly holidays, annual paid leave, and other types of leave and rest time are stipulated in the Labor Standards Act, which stipulates that rest periods are a minimum of 45 minutes for work periods of 6 hours or more, and 60 minutes for work periods of 8 hours or more, but in reality this time is used for lunch.
