A crab of the family Carappa (Crustacea) that lives on the sandy bottom of coastal waters (illustration). The shell is 4 cm wide. The outline of the shell is almost circular, with one protrusion in the center of the side edge. The surface of the shell is almost flat, with six small protrusions arranged symmetrically on both sides. All of the walking legs are flat and all have different shapes. They use these skillfully to swim quickly near the sandy bottom, and when they stop, they quickly burrow into the sand. The shell is a dull gray-white color with many small russet-colored dots on the surface, which provides a clear camouflage effect on the sand.
