Abbreviation for medium frequency. One of the classifications of radio waves according to frequency for convenience of use. According to the Radio Regulations attached to the Charter of the International Telecommunication Union (ITU), the range is set as over 300 kHz and below 3000 kHz. When expressed in wavelength, this ranges from 1 kilometer to 100 meters, and when classified by meters, it is classified as a hectometer wave. Although it is generally called medium wave, MF is quite different from the concept that has traditionally been called medium wave. In other words, medium wave referred to the marine communication band from 400 kHz to 535 kHz and the radio broadcasting band from 535 kHz to 1606.5 kHz. The long wave range was from 300 kHz to 400 kHz, and the range from 1600 kHz to 4000 kHz was called MHF (middle high frequency). This was a good division that took into account the propagation characteristics due to the difference in radio wave frequency. In 1999, the ITU radio communication regulations were revised to the current range. medium frequencyの略称。
