A perennial plant of the Saxifragaceae family that is rarely found in the moist shade of trees in deep mountains, it is a relict plant that is often found in limestone areas (illustration). The stem is 80-120cm tall, the leaves are opposite, and the lower ones have long stalks, but the upper ones are almost stalkless. The leaf blade is 10-20cm long and wide, shallowly palmately lobed, with triangular lobes that are pointed at the ends and heart-shaped at the base. In July and August, it produces sparse cone-shaped cymes at the ends of the stems, and beautiful yellow flowers bloom. The calyx tube is hemispherical with five shallow triangular lobes at the end.
