Callipus cycle

A cycle of 27,759 days. This cycle was invented by the Greek Callippus (of Cyzicus) in 334 BC, and includes 28 leap months in 76 years, making 76 years = 940 calendar months, with a total of 27,759 days. Therefore, one year is 365.25 days, and one calendar month is 29.53085 days. It was called the 76-year method, and was one solution to the problem of how to best combine the solar year and the lunar month in the lunar calendar. It was known in China in the 5th century BC, and was incorporated into the quarter calendar that was in use at the time.
