Massif Ahaggar - Ahagarusanchi (English spelling)

A mountain range in the central Sahara Desert in southern Algeria, North Africa. It is also called the Hoggar Mountains. It is a volcanic plateau made of basalt that erupted through bedrock of granite and schist, and its highest peak, Mount Takht, is 2,918 meters high. The annual rainfall is less than 250 mm, and many wadis have formed around the mountain range. The inhabitants are the Ker Ahaggar people of Tuareg descent, and the Tamanrasset oasis is the region's central settlement.

北アフリカ、アルジェリア南部の中央サハラ砂漠にある山地。ホガルHoggar山地ともよばれる。花崗(かこう)岩や片岩の基盤岩類を貫いて噴出した玄武岩からなる火山性の台地で、最高峰のタハト山は2918メートルである。年降水量は250ミリメートル以下で、山地周辺には多くのワジが形成されている。住民はトゥアレグ系のケルアハガル人で、タマンラセットのオアシスがこの地域の中心集落である。
