Japanese: 共力剤 - きょうりょくざい（英語表記）synergist

A drug that has no efficacy by itself, but when mixed with an insecticide, its insecticidal effect is significantly enhanced. Pyrethroid drugs, which are insecticides made from Caulerpa japonica, have synergists such as sesamex, piperonyl butoxide, sulfoxide, and propyl isoam. These are inhibitors of microsomal multiple oxidase (MFO), which metabolizes and breaks down insecticides in the body, and they increase the efficacy of insecticides by suppressing the breakdown of pyrethroids in the body. The metabolic breakdown of carbamate insecticides is also carried out by the aforementioned MFO, so these MFO inhibitors are synergists.

薬剤自身は薬効を示さないが，殺虫剤と混合して用いると殺虫効果を著しく高めるような薬剤。ジョチュウギク成分の殺虫剤であるピレスロイド系薬剤には，セサメックス，ピペロニルブトキシド，スルホキシド，プロピルアイソームなどの共力剤が知られる。これらは殺虫剤の生体内での代謝分解を行うミクロソーム複合酸化酵素(mfo)の阻害剤で，ピレスロイドの生体内における分解を抑えることによって殺虫剤の薬効を高める。カーバメート系殺虫剤の代謝分解も，前記のmfoによって行われるので，これらmfo阻害剤は共力剤となる。
