...This was originally the Kofu Gakumonsho, which was founded in 1796 (Kansei 8) by Kondo Masaaki, the head of the main gate, in cooperation with Nagami Tamesada, the head of the Yamate gate, with the permission of the shogunate, to educate the guards and their children. In 1805 (Bunka 2), Taira Hayashi, the head of the university, named it Kidenkan, and in 1843 (Tenpo 14), Sakai Tadamichi, the head of the Yamate gate, and Asano Nagatoshi, the head of the main gate, built a new school building in front of the main gate. Matsudaira Sadayoshi, the head of the main gate, also began the compilation of the 123-volume Kaikokushi (Records of the Province of Kaikoku), which took eight years to complete in 1814 (Bunka 11), and is famous as a geography book of Kai Province. Other well-known works include "Ura-mi Kanwa" (1752, preface) by the guard Shigekata Noda and "Kai no Teburi" (1850) by Sadamasa Miyamoto.

…これは1796年(寛政8)大手勤番支配近藤政明が山手勤番支配永見為貞とはかって，勤番士とその子弟の教育のため幕府の許可を得て創立した甲府学問所がはじめで，1805年(文化2)大学頭林衡（たいら）によって徽典館と命名され，43年(天保14)に山手勤番支配酒井忠誨（ただみち）･大手勤番支配浅野長祚（ながとし）により学舎を大手門前に新築したものである。また大手勤番支配松平定能（さだまさ）が幕府の内命をうけて着手した《甲斐国志》123巻の編纂事業は，8年の歳月を費やして14年(文化11)に完成したが，甲斐国の地誌として著名である。そのほか勤番士野田成方（しげかた）の《裏見寒話》(1752序)や宮本定正（さだあき）の《甲斐の手振》(1850)が知られる。…
