Cardiac stimulant - Cardiac stimulant

Japanese:
Cardiac stimulant - Cardiac stimulant

This refers to drugs that increase cardiac contractility and restore it when the heart is weakened or dysfunctional, but in a broader sense it can also include drugs that act on the peripheral vascular system or central nervous system other than the heart to restore dysfunction to normal. Representative drugs include cardiac glycosides such as digitalis preparations, proscillaridin, and G-strophanthin, and xanthine derivatives such as aminophylline and diprophylline, which have a diuretic effect in addition to their cardiotonic effect. In addition, catecholamines such as adrenaline and isoprenaline also increase cardiac contractility and are used as cardiac stimulants. The herb Senso, as well as plants such as Omoto, Lily of the Valley, and Oleander, contain glycosides with cardiac stimulants.
