This refers to the expulsion of militarists and ultranationalists from teaching positions in order to democratize education as part of the GHQ occupation policy after World War II. GHQ ordered this in the "Matters Concerning the Investigation, Exclusion, and Approval of Education and Education-Related Officials" (October 30, 1945), and after this, voluntary retirements and retirements designated by GHQ occurred. In response to this, the Japanese government made it mandatory for all teachers, except for those who had been expelled from public office and were prohibited from working as teachers, to be examined by the Prefectural Educational Eligibility Examination Committee, and in 1947 implemented the removal of unqualified teachers through the "Cabinet Order Concerning the Removal and Prohibition of Employment of Teaching Personnel, etc." More than 7,000 people were unqualified. All of the expulsions were lifted when the peace treaty came into effect in April 1952. Source : Heibonsha Encyclopedia About MyPedia Information |
