Danish author. Also known as Anersen Nexø or Andersen Nexø. Born in a slum in the capital Copenhagen, he worked as a shepherd boy, a shoemaker and a teacher before beginning to write on the theme of political struggle. In The Spider's Web (1908), a recollection of his own childhood, he warmly observes how good-natured brothers living at the bottom of society become independent. In his representative works Pelle the Victorious (1906-10) and Ditte, Child of Men (1917-21), he portrays Pelle, a successful socialist movement, and women as symbols of the eternal mother on an epic scale.

デンマークの作家。アネルセン･ネクセ，アンデルセン･ネクセとも呼ばれる。首都コペンハーゲンのスラム街に生まれ，牧童，靴職人，教師を経て政治的闘争をテーマに文筆活動に入る。自己の少年時代を回想した《クモの巣》(1908)では社会のどん底に住む善良な兄弟が自立していくようすを温かく観察する。代表作《勝利者ペレ》(1906‐10)，《人類の子ディッテ》(1917‐21)に，社会主義運動の成功者ペレと永遠の母の象徴としての女性を叙事詩的スケールで描き出す。
