Seasonal settlement

Japanese: 季節的集落 - きせつてきしゅうらく（英語表記）seasonal settlement

A settlement formed by farmers, fishermen, nomads, or other people who move from one area to another depending on the season. Well-known examples include the temporary summer settlements at the foot of Mt. Hakusan and the Akaishi Mountains, the Lapps' settlements, who have summer and winter villages and change their place of residence seasonally, and the pastoral settlements in the valleys of the Alps. The settlement on Hegura Island off the coast of Wajima on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture was originally a seasonal settlement, but has now become a permanent settlement.

農民，漁民，遊牧民など，ある地域の住民が季節によって他地域に移動してつくる集落。夏期の臨時集落である白山山麓や赤石山地の出作り集落，夏の村と冬の村をもち，季節的に居住の場所を変えるラップ人らの集落，アルプス河谷の牧養集落などがよく知られる。石川県能登半島の輪島の沖合いの舳倉島 (へぐらじま) の集落は，もとは季節的集落であったが，現在では定住集落に変った例である。
