To avoid confusion, this name is used to distinguish it from the mineral dolomite, but it is not necessarily used widely. It is also called dolomite or dolomite. Carbonate rocks containing 50% or more dolomite are included in dolostone, and those containing less than that are called dolomitic limestone. Some people believe that rocks containing 80% or more dolomite should be called dolostone. Most dolostones are formed by the replacement of CaCO 3 with CaMg(CO 3 ) 2. ...
