〘Noun〙① The closest point that can be seen clearly using the maximum of the eye's ability to adjust. It is expressed in terms of distance from the eye. For normal adult eyes, it is about 10 centimeters, and with age it moves further away, and at more than 30 centimeters it becomes presbyopia. [Modern Terminology Dictionary (1931)]② The point equivalent to the perihelion or perigee in the orbit of a celestial body.
