Imperial Constitution - Kinteikenpo

A constitution enacted by a monarch. A type of written constitution distinguished by the entity that enacted it, as opposed to a civil constitution. It is given to the people as a benefit by the unilateral will of the monarch, based on the principle of monarchical sovereignty. Constitutions created during reactionary periods under absolute monarchies to suppress rising public opinion, such as the French Constitution of 1814 (Louis XVIII), the Prussian Constitution of 1850, and the Constitution of the Empire of Japan of 1889 (Meiji 22), belong to this category.

君主によって制定された憲法。制定の主体によって区別される成文憲法の一種で、民定憲法に対する。君主主権の原理に基づいて、君主の一方的意思により恩恵として国民に与えられる。1814年のフランス憲法（ルイ18世）、1850年のプロイセン憲法、1889年（明治22）の大日本帝国憲法など、絶対君主制のもとで、民意の高揚を抑えるため、反動期に生まれた憲法がこれに属する。
