Ichinomoto

A district of Tenri City in northern Nara Prefecture. Former Ichinomoto Town. Ichinomoto Sho in ancient times. It developed as a town and village on the Kami Kaido road that continues north to Tanba City, the center of Tenri City. The Meihan National Highway runs through the area, and it is connected to the Nishi-Meihan Expressway. Ichinomoto Station on the JR Sakurai Line is also located here. There is Washita Shrine, whose main hall is a national important cultural property, and Utatsuka, which is said to be the tomb of Kakinomoto no Hitomaro. Also, to the north of Washita Shrine is Ichinomoto Takatsuka Park.

奈良県北部、天理市の一地区。旧櫟本町。古代の櫟本荘(しょう)。天理市の中心地丹波市(たんばいち)の北に続く上(かみ)街道の街村として発達、名阪国道が通じ、西名阪自動車道に接続している。また、JR桜井線櫟本駅がある。本殿が国の重要文化財である和爾下(わにした)神社や、柿本人麻呂(かきのもとのひとまろ)の墳墓と伝えられる歌塚がある。また、和爾下神社の北方には櫟本高塚公園がある。
