The Middle Elamite period (c. 1330-c. 1110 BCE) was the height of its power, with famous figures such as Untashnapirisha, who built a huge ziggurat at Dur-Untash (now Chogha-Zanbil), and Shutrkunahunte, who conquered Babylonia and brought back to Susa the stone inscription of the Code of Hammurabi. The Neo-Elamite Kingdom (c. 750-639 BCE) allied with Babylonia to oppose the Assyrian Empire, but was destroyed when the capital Susa was destroyed by Ashurbanipal's expeditionary forces. ...
