Modernist Theology

...H. Rashdall (1858-1924), WR Inge (1860-1954), K. Lake (1872-1946) and others led this movement, and in opposition to the fundamentalists, they attempted to modernize doctrine and liturgy, which later influenced the Oxford Movement. In German Protestantism, theology from Schleiermacher to K. Barth is broadly called modernist theology, but here liberal theology is the more general term. However, liberalism in the narrow sense is seen in those who dissolve doctrine, such as DF Strauss and AE Biedermann (1819-85), and in the school of religious history that emerged at the end of the 19th century (mostly biblical scholars, but systematically represented by E. Troeltsch). ...
