Kirushon, VM - Kirushon

After the Communist Party's Central Committee resolution "On the Party's Policy in the Literary Field" in June of that year, the left-wing group led by Vardzin and others left and established a new group with LLAverbakh (also called Auerbach) as its general secretary, with the theoretical journal "RAPP" and the biweekly critical journal "Literary Outpost". Its core members were Libedinsky, Furmanov, Vladimir Mikhailovich Kirshon (1902-38), later Fadeev, and Vladimir Vladimirovich Ermilov (1904-65). At first, he adopted a moderate line such as "learn from the classics," but as he repeatedly engaged in fierce debates with fellow defenders of literature such as Aleksandr Konstantinovich Voronskii (1884-1943), his political tendencies grew stronger, and he denounced non-proletarian writers, including Gorky and Sholokhov, for being vulgar sociological and placing too much emphasis on the world view, and his criticism was feared as "the club of the RAPP."
