Christ
The Greek translation of the Hebrew word Messiah, meaning one who has been chosen by God and anointed with oil. In the early 1st century, the term was used to refer to Jesus Christ, a Jew from Nazareth in Palestine under Roman rule, in the Christian faith that he was the Savior, and Jesus Christ became his proper noun.
