Since the excavation of the Kirigaoka ruins in Yokohama, Japan, pitfalls believed to be from the Jomon period have been discovered mainly in eastern Japan. In the Tama Hills, oval pitfalls with a stick at the bottom were often built in the early Jomon period, while in Hokkaido, narrow trench-shaped pitfalls were often used in the middle to late Jomon period. …
