Kikumanso - Kikumanosho

Japanese:
Kikumanso - Kikumanosho
This manor was part of the territory of Kyoto Kamigamo-sha (Kamo Wakeikazuchi Shrine) in Noma County, Iyo Province. It is located within the current Kikuma-cho, Ehime Prefecture (now Imabari City). In 1090, Emperor Horikawa donated 600 cho of non-taxable land to Kamo-kamigami-sha and Kamo-no-kamigami-sha as offering fields, and it is believed that Kikuman-sho became Kamigamo-sha's territory at that time. The name of the manor appears in a decree from Minamoto no Yoritomo in 1184. In 1226, the manor was given to Kamo-sha priest Ujihisa as a separate land by Emperor Gosaga, and after 1310, the position of the land was passed down from generation to generation to the Kamo-sha priest family. At the end of the Kamakura period, the cultivated land area of the manor was 130 cho. In 1440, the administrative duties of the manor were contracted to the Tokui family, a branch of the Kono clan, and the manor became the Tokui family's estate thereafter. In 1585, Iyo Province came under the control of Kobayakawa Takakage, and the Kamigamo Shrine's territory, Kikumansho, was thought to have disappeared. However, in October 1586, Emperor Ogimachi ordered Takakage to continue making donations to the shrine as usual, and in December Takakage promised to send horse racing fees.
