A traffic volume survey that grasps the origin of people, goods, automobiles, etc. from their destination to their starting point. In general, not only origins and destinations are surveyed, but also the purpose of traffic, means of use, factors of traffic generation and concentration, characteristics of traffic patterns, and other detailed current conditions are surveyed at the same time, and they are often used as basic data for analyzing the current traffic situation and formulating plans. There are automobile OD surveys that focus on the movement of automobiles, person trip surveys that focus on the movement of people, and material flow surveys that focus on the movement of goods.
