Far northern languages

A general term for the languages spoken in Sakhalin, Kamchatka, and northeastern Siberia. They are broadly divided into Eastern and Western groups. The Eastern group includes three groups: Chukchi-Koryak-Kamchadal, Yukaghir, and Gilyak, while the Western group includes Ket. Old Asian languages. 〘名〙 サハリン、カムチャツカ、北東シベリアなどで話される諸言語の総称。東方派と西方派とに大別される。東方派にはチュクチ‐コリャーク‐カムチャダール語、ユカギール語、ギリヤーク語の三群があり、西方派にはケット語が属する。古アジア諸語。
