An easterly wind that blows from the polar high pressure zone that exists quasi-steadily in the Arctic or Antarctic Circle toward the polar low pressure zone. It forms the Arctic front or the Antarctic front with the mid-latitude westerly winds. Its vertical thickness is thin, usually about 1 to 3 kilometers. Except for the northern part of the Aleutian low and the Icelandic low, it is often irregular and unclear. It is also called the polar easterly wind, polar easterly wind, or polar wind.
