The oldest interdenominational foreign mission organization in the United States. Founded in 1810 by Congregationalist pastors from Massachusetts and Connecticut, it sent missionaries to various parts of Asia. DC Green was the first missionary to visit Japan in 1869, and Board particularly supported the establishment of Doshisha University and Kobe College. A joint venture between Congregationalists and Evangelical Reformed Churches, it is now called the United Church Board for World Ministries.
