Period analysis

Period analysis

Economic variables such as prices, prices, investment, and consumption change over time. The process of these changes is divided into several discontinuous periods, and the method of analysis is called period analysis, assuming that these economic variables remain constant within these periods. It is also called sequence analysis. Companies and households plan future production and consumption volumes based on past experience and data (called ex ante values). However, the values realized in the market (called ex post values) do not necessarily match the planned values. This makes it necessary to revise the plans. In period analysis, plans are not revised within a period, but only at the end of a period. Here, it is important to consider how much the difference between the planned value and the realized value is adjusted in the next period. Period analysis is effective in seeing how the complex causal relationships between economic variables change over time. If the period of period analysis is made as small as possible, it becomes continuous analysis. In continuous analysis, economic variables are analyzed as changing continuously over time.
