Born January 15, 1270. Born in Kyoto. Jodo Shinshu. Eldest son of Shozen, the 12th abbot of Bukkoji Temple. Succeeded as the 13th abbot in 1574. In 1576, he left Bukkoji Temple with many branch temples and converted to Rennyo of the Honganji sect, changing his name to Renkyo and establishing Koshoji Temple in Yamashina, using the old name of Bukkoji Temple.
