Gyuto Rail

Japanese:
Gyuto Rail

[Rails and sleepers]
Rails support the wheels and provide a safe, smooth running surface for vehicles, while distributing the load of the vehicles and facilitating maintenance of the tracks, so they must be strong, safe, and resistant to wear. Rail shapes and materials have been the subject of many years of research and development, leading to a variety of cross-sectional shapes, including double-headed rails and bull's head rails, before arriving at the flat-bottom rails we know today. With the development of steelmaking techniques, the material has also changed from wrought iron to steel, and rail steel generally consists of carbon steel with a carbon content of about 0.4 to 0.8%.
