...The most famous one is the Saisho-e held at the Imperial Palace Daigokuden for seven days from January 8 to 14 every year. This is called the Imperial Palace Saisho-e or Misaie, and according to the Shoreisho it became a regular event in 766 (Tenpyo Jingo 2) and was said to be the most important annual event at the Imperial Palace. The Saisho-e at Yakushiji Temple was started in June 830 (Tencho 7) at the suggestion of Yakushiji Chukei, in order to promote the teachings and learning of the temple, and was petitioned by the temple's patron, Prince Naoyo.
