Axe of Vengeance

…In 1510 (the 5th year of the Zhengde era), the eunuch Liu Jin sent Zhou Dong, the junior minister of the Dali Temple, to survey the Ningxia garrison and ask for increased taxes, which angered the generals and soldiers. Ri Zhong seized the opportunity to count Liu Jin's crimes and raise an army under the pretext of eliminating the traitors around the king. The court appointed Yang Yiqing, the former right censor, as admiral and had him lead the troops of the central army in the capital to suppress the rebellion, but the ingenious plan of the assistant general Qiu Yue worked quickly on the ground, and the rebellion ended in just 18 days. Ri Zhong was sent to Beijing and killed, and Qiu Yue was made the Earl of Xianning. This rebellion, like the 1519 Ning King Rebellion, was started by members of the royal family, and its roots lie in Emperor Zhengde's entertainment and political corruption by eunuchs such as Liu Jin.

…たまたま1510年(正徳5)，宦官劉瑾（りゆうきん）が大理寺少卿周東を遣わして寧夏の屯田を測量し，租税の増徴をはかって将卒の憤激を買うと，寘鐇はこの機をとらえて劉瑾の罪状を数え，君側の奸を除くことを名として兵を挙げた。朝廷では前右都御史楊一清を起用して提督とし，京営(中央軍)の兵を率いて討伐に向かわせたが，これよりはやく現地では，参将仇鉞（きゆうえき）の奇計が功を奏し，反乱はわずか18日で終息，寘鐇は北京に送られて殺され，仇鉞は咸寧伯に封ぜられた。この反乱は，1519年に起こった寧王の乱と同じく王族の起こした反乱で，正徳帝の遊興と劉瑾ら宦官による政治の腐敗に根本的な原因がある。…
