During the Tenpo period, salt wholesalers' commission was 3 rin per bale of Saiden salt (6 kan, 500 mon), and 5 rin per bale of Ako salt (9 kan, 300 mon), so the commission for salt wholesalers who handled volumes approaching 2 million bales was enormous. ...
