A letter of remonstrance to Akiie Kitabatake

Japanese: 北畠顕家諫奏文 - きたばたけあきいえかんそうぶん

...A nobleman and military commander during the Northern and Southern Courts period. The eldest son of Kitabatake Chikafusa. Junior Second Rank Provincial Chunagon. In 1333 (Ganko 3), under the plan for a small Oshu Shogunate, he was appointed Mutsu no Kami by the Kenmu government, and went down to Oshu with Emperor Godaigo's son Prince Yoshiyoshi. In 1335 (Kenmu 2), when Ashikaga Takauji defected, he led the Oshu army to Kyoto and pursued Takauji to Kyushu. In March 1336 (Engen 1 | Kenmu 3), he returned to Oshu with Prince Yoshiyoshi and worked hard to support the offensive of the Ashikaga side in Oshu and Kanto, but in June of the same year, when Takauji took the capital with Emperor Kogon, he again led the Oshu army on a long march in August of the following year. ...

…南北朝期の公卿，武将。北畠親房の嫡男。従二位権中納言。1333年(元弘3)，奥州小幕府構想のもとに，建武政権から陸奥守に補任され，後醍醐天皇の皇子義良親王を擁して奥州に下った。35年(建武2)足利尊氏の離反とともに，奥州軍を率いて上洛，尊氏を九州に追った。36年(延元1∥建武3)3月，義良親王を奉じていったん奥州へ戻り，奥羽･関東の足利方の攻勢を支えるのに腐心したが，同年6月，尊氏が光厳上皇を奉じて京を奪うと，翌37年8月，再度奥州軍を率いて長征の途にのぼった。…
