This is printing using relief-shaped rubber plates, and is also called flexograph because the plates are flexible. It was also called aniline printing because aniline dye ink was used, but nowadays pigment ink is more commonly used, so it has come to be called flexography. Because the plates are relatively elastic, a smooth ink that flows easily is used, and not much pressure is applied when printing. As a result, the printing press is not very sturdy.
