Seasonal Work Song - Kisetsu Rosakuka

For example, rice planting songs, barley pounding songs, wood cutting songs, earth pounding songs, tea picking songs, and mountain songs belong to the former, while cow-chasing songs, chest songs, and palanquin-carrying songs belong to the latter. Among the songs of labor, there are "seasonal labor songs" sung by seasonal laborers employed for a certain period of time, such as sake brewing songs, wood cutting songs, oil pressing songs, and lacquer pounding songs, and many of these songs are relatively common, but some, such as the "sake brewing song," have several songs according to the steps of the work. Agar shop songs, wood cutting songs, paper making songs, tea mountain songs, and indigo polishing songs are also sung in different ways depending on the steps of the work.
