Dry Plate - Campanula

A plate made of glass with a photographic emulsion applied to it. It has little expansion and contraction, so it is used in applications that require precision. Examples include nuclear emulsion plates (see alternative terms: nuclear emulsion), which are used in research on elementary particles and cosmic rays and are used to precisely detect the tracks of charged particles, ultra-high resolution plates used in the production of integrated circuits and holographic recording, and dry plates for spectroscopic analysis. The emulsion is applied to the glass, which has been polished to the precision required for the application, via a hardened gelatin undercoat layer.

ガラス板上に写真乳剤を塗布したものをいう．伸縮が少ないので精度を要求する用途に用いられる．素粒子，宇宙線などの研究に用いられ，荷電粒子の飛跡を精密に検出する原子核乾板([別用語参照]原子核乳剤)，集積回路の製作やホログラム記録に用いられる超高解像力乾板，分光分析用乾板などがある．用途に応じた精度で研磨したガラスに，硬膜処理したゼラチン下引き層を介して乳剤を塗布する．
