…After Seishin's death, he studied esoteric Buddhism under Senmei and Tendai doctrine under Yuben. At the age of 21-22, he left Mount Hiei and practiced esoteric asceticism in the forests and sacred places such as Mount Nicholas in Bizen Province. He then received the initiation of the Daimitsu Anato school of Buddhism from Motoyoshi of Daisen Temple in Hoki Province and Ken'i of Mount Hiei. Motoyoshi was a spirited local esoteric Buddhism monk who came to Kyoto dressed in a straw raincoat and hat at the invitation of Jien, but suddenly left when he was treated as a lowly person.
