〘Noun〙 (transliteration of hūṃ) Buddhist term. The sound made when the mouth is closed. It is the opposite of the sound made when the mouth is open, " a ", but it is combined with "a-un" and all sounds and languages are considered to be included in these two characters. ※Shingon Naishogi (1345) "When you close your mouth and gather your energy, you will hear the sound of un. It will come in and out from the tip of your nose and become your life breath."
